The Homestead

The Homestead is exclusively yours while you are here. With sweeping views of the ocean and just a short stroll from the beach, it is embodiment of a remote island retreat. Originally built in 1910, the Homestead is situated against a group of mighty trees, overlooking an open field grazed by native kangaroos and cape barren geese. Step out onto your large deck area and enjoy your morning cuppa with the wildlife, watching a colourful Three Hummock Island sunrise. Take a picnic or bottle of wine down to Home beach, which stretches completely uninhabited as far as your eyes can see. Bird enthusiasts can walk the shoreline and catch a pair of sea eagles soaring gallantly overhead.  

The Homestead is incredibly comfortable and adaptive to your needs - a warm haven after a long day of bush walking adventures, or a cozy place to escape and catch up on some reading. Wherever you are, you’ll be rewarded with the sound of soft waves in the background, lapping at the island’s stunning granite coast. 

The Homestead has 4 bedrooms with 3 king size beds that can be split into singles and one room with bunk beds. The kitchen is fully-equipped with cooking essentials, pots and pans, coffee plunger, stovetop kettle, dishes, cutlery, and more. All linen, towels, toilet paper, soap, washing up liquid, scourers and hand sanitiser is provided during your stay. There is a large collection of books to enjoy while here, as well a television and a number of dvds. Three Hummock Island is extremely remote. Guests bring all their own food, clothing, medication and supplies with them to the island.

Three Hummock Island is a Sustainable Tourism Accredited accommodation. All power is provided through renewable sources such as wind and solar. There are no high-drawing appliances such as electric kettles, toasters or hair dryers on the island. All water is provided through rain water tanks and a nearby spring. We politely ask that you enjoy these resources but refrain from overindulging. All guests are asked to take their rubbish with them.
